It tempers chocolate... BUT....
1 of 2 found this helpful It’s badly designed, badly made, very loud and part of it hasn’t worked since the day I got it!
The temperature adjustment buttons haven’t done a thing since the day I purchased it brand new.
The lid is unfinished plastic. It has a rough, scratchy edge that feels like sawed plastic. This low standard seems to be the norm for the various parts of the Rev 2B.
The Baffle: Before I used it the first time I had to bend the probes to make them go where they should go. These probes are incredibly delicate, and yet are an integral part of the machine. Something more robust would be much more sensible. It says to NOT get the probes wet, yet Chocovision put the probes in the place most likely to get chocolate on them and with the silly cleaning brush and all the rough edges on the plastic, keeping them dry isn't easy.
The plastic scraper that comes with the baffle doesn’t seem to fit quite right. The scraper also has a gap at the top, allowing the chocolate that it’s keeping in the bowl to ride up onto the bowl rim, sending it directly towards those impossible-to-clean probes. This happens even if you overfill by the tiniest amount.
The thermometer probe that measures the temperature of the chocolate sticks out about half an inch from the baffle. I realise it has to ‘probe’ the chocolate to get an accurate temperature reading, but half an inch? – right in the working part of the chocolate? They really should have tucked it away somewhere less -in the way- where it doesn’t interfere with the last several dippings of the day.
The Bowl: The design is such that without purchasing extra parts, less than half of the bowl is used.
The spatula that comes with the Rev 2B doesn’t fit the shape of the bowl so is rather useless at clearing out the chocolate.
Overall I’m astonished at the bad design and massive pricetag for something so randomly thrown together and so cheaply made. Everything about the Revolation 2B screams ‘cheap’, yet it really isn’t! It’s the most expensive gadget I own.
All that said.. it DOES temper chocolate. But I’m fairly sure the noddy who designed it never actually used it.
When this machine stops working totally, (since part of it was broken before I even took it out of the box, and with all the cheap parts, that probably won’t take too long) I won’t be replacing it with anything by Chocovision.

My new favourite
Great for growing in small spaces. Loads of tomatoes, and they are lovely tasting. I'll be sticking to Red Robin toms from now on.

o.m.g!
1 of 1 found this helpful This has some amazing recipes in it! The ice cream base they use recommends totally raw egg, which I don't do... instead I make egg custard using the same ingredients and a slightly different method, then I follow the recipes for the incredible ice creams. There's not been one yet I've not enjoyed, and I've HAD to put the ice cream maker away before I turn into a total lard-a*se. Needless to say, it's a good book!
