About Diamond Core Drill Bits
There are different diamond core drill bits available to suit all requirements, from the dry hand-held variety to wet cutting versions for use with core drill machines. The choice depends mostly on the hardness, abrasiveness and thickness of the material to be drilled and whether creating dust is an issue.
Dry hand-held diamond core drill bits
This type of drill bit is ideal for drilling holes in brick and block. The tubes on the diamond bits are vented to withstand the higher temperatures associated with dry cutting. This design not only keeps the core bit running cooler but makes the removal of the cutting faster and easier too.
Vacuum dry hand-held diamond core drill bits
An inexpensive and fast way to drill holes into brick, block and most concrete - with the exception of hard or steel reinforced concrete - this type of drill bit is an ideal solution for situations where water cannot be used or where dust control is a factor. The vacuum suction draws air down the outside of the bit and across the diamond segments. Apart from removing the dust quickly and efficiently, this action aids in cooling the bit and removing the cuttings.
Wet cut hand-held diamond core drill bits
Made with a thinner diamond kerf than the mounted version, this core drill bit tends to give less resistance while permitting faster penetration of reinforced concrete. Faster drilling capabilities coupled with less weight and drag equates to less operator fatigue.
Wet cutting diamond core drill bits
Designed to be used on core drill machines and made with maximum diamond concentration. This core drill bit is very versatile and can be used on both hard concrete with steel reinforcement and easier to drill materials like asphalt and brick block.
