About Ghillie Kettles
The ghillie kettle, also known as a Kelly kettle, is a traditional outdoor kettle that is quick and easy to use. The ghillie kettle does not require you to purchase a gas stove or gas canisters. Instead, the all-in-one unit consists of a large water chamber sitting above an empty metal chamber. Fill the water chamber and place the unit on a flat, steady surface. Then, you simply place fuel, such as sticks, pine cones, paper, or dried grass, into the empty base chamber and light the fuel. The fire quickly and efficiently heats the water in the chamber above. It is fast and convenient, and gives you hot water for washing or drinking. The water chamber is a donut-shape, with the empty space in the middle acting as a chimney to draw the heat and fire up, speeding up the water heating process. If you need to add extra fuel, while the fire beneath is still burning, simply push it down through the chimney. Choose from traditional or whistling models, and even purchase cooking attachments, like pots and pans, to add to your camping equipment.
