About Heated Throw
Heated blankets can be made from a variety of fabrics and come in different styles and sizes. Some have features such as timers in order to make them user both friendly and safe.
Blankets may have a number of temperature settings which can be adjusted for comfort, with most heating up quickly to maximum temperatures around 37 degrees. Timers can be set so that the blanket automatically turns off after a certain amount of time. This is a useful function when using the blanket at bedtime as the user does not need to worry about overheating whilst asleep. These functions are usually accessed using a remote control which is attached to the blanket.
Most modern heated blankets work on as little as 12 volts of power, making them safe as well as energy efficient. Travel blankets, made for use in cars, can be powered by plugging them into the car cigarette lighter.
Fleece material blankets are usually made from 100% polyester, with the fabric complementing the electrical heating mechanism in order to optimise warmth generated. Alternatively, microplush heated blankets are incredibly soft with a deep pile and a soft sheen. This fabric often comes in luxurious deep colours such as navy and maroon. Faux fur is another option which combines a dramatic look with a cosy feel.
Patterned heated blankets come in a number of varieties including plaid, tartan, animal prints or quilting. Most heated blanket covers can be removed for washing in the machine and then replaced for use once fully dry.
