Ian Somerhalder

Ask any man-loving woman who Ian Somerhalder is, and chances are, you will be returned with sighs of lust and endearment. Ian is an American actor and model from Louisiana. He has appeared on numerous television and film programmemes since the age of 20. He began his career as a model, producing work from the ages of 10 through 13, but decided when he was 17 that he wanted to focus on acting. His first multi-episode role was in "Young Americans", a spin-off of the WB's popular show "Dawson's Creek". Though short-lived, Ian took on other roles through that network, which became the CW in 2006. He is best-known for his role on the incredibly popular ABC drama, Lost, and the CW hit "The Vampire Diaries". Though he only appeared in 19 episodes of the 121 aired, he is seen as one of the most significant characters. He was the first actor hired for the series. In 2009, "The Vampire Diaries" debuted and earned the highest ratings that the CW had seen since it overtook the WB in 2006. Ian's performance was viewed positively and propelled him into a more recognisable status as an actor. Ian is widely viewed as a heart-throb by many of his fans. Noting his dedication to charity, in 2010, while hosting the Bash at the Bayou charity fundraiser for the Society, the Vampire Diaries Fandom presented him with a $11,100 check. He has dedicated himself to preserving the environment, animal rights, and support of LGBT youth. Much to the dismay of his love-struck teen fans, Ian has been dating his co-star of "The Vampire Diaries", Nina Dobrev, since September 2011.
