Lighting is often overlooked, but can have a huge impact on both the usefulness and the aesthetic appeal of a room - and the best way to improve in both areas is to add some directional, functional lighting to a space that may only be served by a single ceiling light at present. Even the ceiling light can be transformed using a new chandelier-like fitting, for a relatively simple way to add some oomph to the room.

For a larger room, or one that is used for a variety of purposes, make sure there are plenty of lighting options, such as desk lamps to read by, or a free-standing standard lamp or uplighter that can offer a different level of brightness for cosy evenings.
