When I finished this novel, I didn't want to review it: I wanted to reread it. Which might seem perverse if you know that for most of the last hundred pages I was dissolved in tears.

About Me Before You

Written in 2012 by British novelist and journalist Jojo Moyes, Me Before You is a romance novel that tackles elements of love, friendship, ambitions and life. The romantic novel revolves around the lives of Louisa Clark, a 26-year-old girl who has landed a caregiver position to take care of Will Traynor, a wealthy yet acerbic 35-year-old man who spent two years of his life as a quadriplegic after a devastating motorcycle accident. At the beginning of the story, Lou works as a waitress at a café, but when it is shut down she is forced to take a job caring for Will so she can help with her families financial difficulties. Will and Lou hate each other’s guts, but as the story progresses, the two lead characters are able to get to know each other better and start to create a friendship and even a blossoming romance. Liesl Schillinger, a regular contributor to the New York Times Sunday Book Review has described Jojo Moyes work as “a love story and a family story, but above all it’s a story of the bravery and sustained effort needed to redirect the path of a life once it’s been pushed off course.” Other readers of the book have viewed it as an engaging and thought-provoking novel. The story starts from mutual animosity that transforms into a story of friendship and love within the six months that Lou and Will spent together and teaches its readers to live life and live it well.
