About Noel Gallagher

If you have ever enjoyed Britpop bands, then you've probably heard of Noel Gallagher. Making his name as the lead guitarist and songwriter for the English rock band Oasis, Noel Gallagher is acknowledged as being one of the major factors in the success of Britpop. At one time, the music magazine NME (New Musical Express) coined the term "Noelrock" to describe several Britpop bands, including Kula Shaker and Cast. Gallagher overcame an abusive childhood and less-than-ideal conditions on his road to fame. A self-taught guitarist, he plays right-handed guitar, even though he is left-handed. However, his greatest strength is his writing. Noel Gallagher penned all the great Oasis hits and was hailed as "a man who has written more anthems in the last two decades than anyone else" by NME's editor. Oasis enjoyed great popularity in Britain, with their debut album, "Definitely Maybe", becoming the fastest-selling debut album of all time in the UK. In 2009, Noel announced that he was leaving Oasis. Since then, Noel Gallagher has embarked on a solo career and formed a new band called "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds". The band released a self-titled album in 2011. The album sold 55,000 copies in two days and debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart, with sales in the first week topping 120,000. "Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds" was certified platinum by the British Phonographic Industry and was the fourteenth best-selling album in the UK in 2011. If you haven't listened to Noel Gallagher's music yet, treat yourself to his latest solo venture or any one of the highly acclaimed Oasis albums.
