Richard Trevithick was a British inventor from Cornwall, United Kingdom. He had experience in boiler technology and built his first full-size locomotive in 1801, known as the Puffing Devil. In 1802, he took out a patent for a high-pressure steam engine and also built a stationary engine with an unprecedented boiler pressure of 145 psi.
