One of the most noteworthy 80s new-wave bands, The Smiths captivated audiences with meaningful lyrics and the velvet voice of its lead singer, Morrissey. With hits like "Meat is Murder" and "How Soon is Now?", they put a stamp on the alternative sound of that decade.

Socially aware songs and a distinctive sound made the band popular, but The Smiths turbulent partnership dissolved not long after. Considered a beloved cult band, the members went on to dabble in individual musical pursuits.
