About Softbox Lighting
Take your photography to the next level with softbox lighting. Using one or more of these lights, you are able to manipulate the light that falls on your subject. A softbox encases a light, the sides and back of the box are reflective, and the front has a diffusive cover. When in use, it softens the shadows surrounding the photographer?s subject. Many softboxes come with an adjustable tripod, some with a pivoting arm that allows for more exact positioning of the light source. Additionally, softboxes come in several sizes. When choosing a style of softbox lighting, check the maximum wattage that it can take and purchase accordingly. Using the wrong wattage in the softbox is a potential fire hazard. If you wish to avoid the potential fire hazard and only need to photograph small items, use a softbox tent. Place lights around the tent and photograph the item through the tent opening.
