About Sureflap Cat Flap
Modern cat flaps have a variety of designs and features making life for both feline and pet owner more flexible than ever, from infrared models to magnetic cat doors to ones operated by microchip versions.
The highest level of security is offered by microchip cat flaps. Cats don?t have to wear a collar, and the flaps only give access to your animal. Locks operate when the flap senses your pet?s microchip. The SureFlap microchip cat flap was created by Dr Nick Hill, a Cambridge physicist who had become fed up with cats which weren?t his gaining access to his home. The product was his solution to the problem, and launched in early 2008, since when vets across the UK have endorsed it, it has sold across the world, and SureFlap went on to win a number of prestigious pet industry awards.
Some of the larger flaps made by SureFlap allow small dogs to come in and out of your home, while other versions suit multi-pet households and mean you can set it up so that some pets have to stay indoors while others are allowed in and out ? identities for up to 32 pets can be stored. Flats are compatible with all common ID microchips, and some are also compatible with the RFID collar tag which does not come included. So if your cat already has a microchip, it will work with the SureFlap.
On these products, there is a four-way manual lock on the flap, and batteries typically last up to one year.
