Analogue Switch Over on the Rowridge Transmitter and Freeview Changes

Please note that if you watch TV through an aerial there will be changes to the Freeview platform starting tomorrow 07/03/12. Switchover is taking place in 3 stages with the second stage happening on 21/03/12 and the third stage on 18/04/12 . Satellite (Sky and Freesat) and Cable  will be unaffected. All changes should not require an aerial change. Changes will also affect BT Vision and Top Up TV subscribers

Firstly analogue BBC 2 will be switched off tomorrow and one of the Freeview multiplexes will change frequency and power.

The BBC multiplex 1 will be moving from UHF Ch 34 to UHF Ch 24 which means that if you have a Freeview box the following channels will go missing

1   BBC ONE General entertainment

2   BBC TWO General entertainment

7   BBC THREE General entertainment

70  CBBC Channel Children

80  BBC NEWS News

105 BBC Red Button Text services

301 301 Interactive

You will therefore need to rescan your box. It is suggested that a first time installation is executed otherwise, if just an add channels is performed, all that will happen is that the missing channels will remain and the new channels will appear in the 800s. This is applicable for stages 2 and 3. If you are receiving all channels your channel total should be approx 110

This is only the first step of the switch over process, on 21/03/12 the second stage will take place when there will be other changes that will require Freeview boxes to be re-scanned when the remaining analogue channels will be switched off and Multiplex 2 will move from UHF Ch 32 to 27. Multiplex BBC B will also be powered up on UHF Ch 21 and Multiplex B on UHF Ch 28 will be switched off

The final stage of the switch over process will occur on 18/04/12, when Multiplex A will be moved from Ch 30 to Ch25, Multiplex C will be moved from Ch 37 to Ch 22 and Multiplex D will be moved from Ch 33 to  Ch 28. All of these changes will require Freeview boxes to be re-scanned.

In conclusion therefore Freeview boxes will need to be rescanned on the following dates:-

                                             07/03/12

                                             21/03/12

                                             18/04/12

The final situation on 18/04/12 will be

Multiplex 1  Ch 24

Multiplex 2  Ch 27

BBC B        Ch 21

Multiplex A  Ch 25

Multiplex C  Ch 22

Multiplex D  Ch 28
