Make sure you read or the rules terms and conditions on entering Australia such as how much money you must have in your bank account or you may find your self being returned home on the next available flight. A mobile phone will be a very good idea to take. It is a good idea to buy your  Australian pay as you go sim card before you goto Australia so your will know your mobile number before you leave. Benefits of this is you can let your family friends and co workers know your Australian mobile number before you leave. Also if applying for a job in Australia you will need a   Australian pay as you go sim card to have a Australian mobile number.
When in Australia there many options for a place to stay for the night - Camping - Hostels - Hotels. Camping the cheapest option and some times free. Hostels also a cheap option and is a good way to meat people. Hotels are normally more upmarket and cost more. Maybe a idea to book in advance a hostel or hotel if in peak season also when you arrive in  Australia they like to know where your be staying so good idea to book in advance for when you arrive. Traveling Australia buy Plane - Car - Bus - Train. Flying is quick and good if your time in Australia is limited. By car is great your see more and can stop off to see see things on the way when you want. By bus is the cheapest option and most green way to travel and bus will go to most towns and cities and tourist spots around Australia. The train is great but more limited on places you can visit.
