The Dandy and Beano began life back in 1937 and 1938 respectively. Their popularity grew and grew and throughout the years they gained a loyal and devoted following of children and adults alike. Both comics were weekly publications and yearly annuals soon followed. Two further publications began in later years and they were The Beezer and The Topper, both in the same vein and also were weekly publications followed by yearly annuals. D.C Thomson & Co. were the publishers of all four comics and they also published many more comics such as:Starblazer,Commando,Bunty,Mandy etc. 1982 saw the very first publication of The Beano comic library and featured the Beano's number one star"Dennis the Menace" 1983 saw the first publication of The Dandy comic library and featured the Dandy's number one star "Desperate Dan".The comic library format focused on one specific character per book and featured one long story consisting of 68 pages. Each fortnight  saw the issue of two of The Beano and The Dandy in alternate releases. They preserve quite well due to the glossy thicker than average cover for a comic, they are digest sized like the well known Commando comic. Both publications ran until the mid nineties and between them spawned over 700 issues. These are now highly sought after by collectors and are often hard to obtain. Collectors will know that keeping their issues stored in good condition is very much a top priority and the best way to do this is by storing them in protective sleeves. Comic sleeves are a wonderful way of preserving your collection of these fine publications and these are easily obtained and reasonably priced.
