Gold plate is thin layer of real gold coating a base metal. Gold plate tends to be most susceptible to water, damp and moisture so needs to be cared for. Eventually a well worn gold plated item will take on an antique look. However to increase the life of your GP item follow these steps:
-Do not wear gold plated items in the bath or shower.
-Do not wear gold plated items when swimming.
-Avoid wearing in the rain.
-When in storage, use an air tight container if possible, such as a ziplock bag or a small plastic container, this will maximise the life of the item.
