Setting up

One of the big advantages of automatic drinks machines is the wide variety of drinks available in varying strengths. To get the best quality of drink, and for the user to enjoy the drink, certain things have to be right.

  • Water quality
  • Water quantity
  • Ingredient quality

Water quality

The quality of water varies in the UK. In some areas it may be almost inpossible to achieve a decent quality drink. To ensure that the drink quality isn't impaired by the water, we recommend fitting a water filter to the machine.

Water quantity

Getting the water level right for the cup is most important as too little water will give a drink that is too strong, and leave the user feeling that they have got short measure. Too much water will weaken the drink. A cup that is too full will be difficult to carry without spillage, and a cup that overflows will be messy to handle.  Different machines have different ways of adjusting the water levels for the drinks. All it takes is time and thought to set the levels correctly.

Ingredient quality

One of the first things I was told when I became involved in drink vending is that if you put rubbish in you will get rubbish out. The quality of your drink is affected by the quality of the ingredient used. Always use the best quality ingredients.

Even using quality ingredients you can still get a poor quality drink if the machine isn't set correctly.

Ingredient quantity

This is the most time consuming part of setting up a machine. The ingredient manufacturers have recommended amounts of ingredient per cup. They should be followed.

To adjust the amount of ingredient an accurate set of scales is needed. They should be have a range of 0 - 20g in 0.1g increments.

The amount of ingredient dispensed is controlled by the length of time the dispense motor runs. Different machines have different methods of changing the run time of the motor, but in every case it is a question of weighing the anount of ingredient vended and adjusting the run time until the recommended amount is given.

Once you have these four factors correct you will have a superb quality drink.

To set a machine up correctly  takes time.  If you don't have the time you may wish  to take advantage of our set up service which can be found in our shop.
