How to track package sent by Royal Mail Signed For from UK to Italy !!!!!

Update 14th Oct 2010:  I have lost this case. PAYPAL decided on the buyers favour because according to paypal Royal Mail proof of posting is not sufficient evidence to prove delivery although I have also provided Paypal the Poste Italiane website printout that clearly states it was delivered to her address on 20th Sept 2010. The reason is Royal Mail International Signed for only tracks the packages online within the UK, and despite I have fulfilled my obligation as a seller the buyer had got away with a FREE expensive bag and free postage since Paypal refunded her the fulll amount to include postage ... so I have lost a great deal of money.

THEREFORE SELLERS BEWARE!!!!!!  NEVER SHIP ANYTHING OUTSIDE UK using Royal Mail International Signed For otherwise chances are you will lose money, just like me.

29th September 2010

Today I had the worst nightmare in my life when I receive an email from paypal regarding a CLAIM OF NON RECEIPT of my recent shipment to Italy and that paypal was informing me that they are withholding a sum of money until the non receipt claim is settled.  I felt sick with worry so I googled the postal service in Italy and stumbled a discussion forum regarding numerous claims of pcakages not receive by Italian buyers who then filed claims on paypal. Apparently proof of posting is not enough to prove otherwise.  You have to prove that the package was delivered and signed but the problem with Royal Mail Intrnational signed for is that it is only trackable online within UK, after the package leaves UK you can't trace it using Royal Mail !!! The trick is to find who delivers the package when it reaches Italy i.e. Poste Italiane.  Luckily for me I found one very helpful suggestion from another ebay member TRIXEE001 and with all my thanks to him I managed to trace my package which I would like to share with other fellow ebay members in case you will have the misfortune to encounter dubious buyers as I just had.  Please note that I am not saying all Italians are bad and dishonest but only a minority which spoils it for others.  I never understood why other ebay sellers don't post to Italy in some listings, but now I know .... so sellers DO BEWARE and hope this helps.  Kindly read and follow as directed below (ebays prohibits other sites outside ebay).

When your package leaves UK, tracking online will say "your item posted on ???? date with reference xxxxxxxxxxxGB has been passed to overseas postal service for delivery in ITALY"

At this point, to track and trace the package when in Italy, you will need to log on to Poste Italiane website (do a search for correct website address).

Then select  cerca spedizioni    then select Posta Raccomandata   then enter the RM tracking number code: xxxxxxxxxxxGB  then below column "data" gg/mm/aaaa  enter the shipping date i.e.  15/09/2010  ad then click the green arrow after Esegui la ricerca

You will then be able to see the status of your package ... in Italian of course .... so you better learn some Italian to undestand what it means !!!
