How many times have you gone out at night with our regular daytime handbag, and then been totally swept away by the sight of someone’s gorgeous evening bag? If you’ve ever kicked yourself for not investing in a smart-looking evening clutch, then you’re in good company because we’ve all been there.
How do you find the best-looking clutch? As with any type of accessory, you need to find something that fits in, both stylistically and colour-wise, with your outfit, yet manages to make a statement of its own. When it’s time to shop for evening bags, here are a few tips:
- Don’t get just one. After all, you wouldn’t wear just one pair of shoes with all your dressy clothes, would you? One evening bag isn’t going to match all your outfits, so buy several.
- A basic black bag can go with a lot of outfits. If your budget is limited, buy a black bag for your darker outfits and a white one for your lighter-coloured clothes.
- Be prepared for “droppage.” If you wear a lot of sequins or feathers when you go out, then you probably already know that you may need to vacuum the car seat the next day. With better quality bags, however, the bling is sewn on more securely, so buy the best you can afford.
- Buy a bag that’s big enough to hold your essentials. Otherwise, you’ll look pretty silly carrying around your cell phone and lipstick all night.
