Transmitter Frequency Range

Many toys come with a stamp or sticker indicating its operating frequency. The Federal Communications Commission typically requires that these devices function at 27 MHz and 49 MHz, so manufacturers will indicate one or the other. However, more advanced RC toys will operate at much higher frequencies. RC toy companies generally offer different versions of each product that use one frequency range or another. This helps in situations in which children or adults operate more than one RC toys near one another. Transmitter Functionality

Transmitters communicate to the toys through a kind of electrical code. For example, pressing forward on a switch sends 16 pulses to the gadget and the toy moves forward. However, pressing reverse sends a sequence of 40 pulses sending the device rolling backward. Some RC toys need more than just forward and backward motion control. Remote control flying toys, for example, should offer directional mobility like moving forward and left or backward and right. Often transmitters include buttons for each or they feature a joystick that controls all of the toy's different movements. Before starting to shop, make a list of all the toys available functions for comparison with each transmitter later. Contemplating a remote control car's movements, for example, should result in a different list than a compilation of the functionality of a RC boat.


Transmitter Power Source

Most transmitters require a 9V battery to operate. However, specific models might require battery packs tailored to the unique dimensions of their designs. The battery's encasement might extend longer or be thicker to match the transmitter's battery compartment.
