How to measure your dog for a collar

Like if this guide is helpful
On eBay there is lots of choice of good quality collars available to purchase for your dog, sometimes it is difficult to know which size to order, especially if you are new to dog ownership. The best way to make sure you order the correct size is to take a measurement yourself. This is very quick and simple to do, and can save you having to exchange or return your item for a different one.

When measuring your dog for a collar it is best to use a soft measuring tape so that is not uncomfortable for your pet (if you don't have one of these you could use a piece of string and then measure the length of the string). Then you will need to add 2 inches or approx 5 cm to the measurement you took to find the size that you need to order.

You also need to take into consideration the width of the collar, for larger breeds this will be thicker and smaller toy breeds a thinner collar should be used.

If you have an existing collar that you use that your dog is comfortable in, you can measure from the centre of the buckle to the hole that you normally use to find the correct measurement of the collar you need to order in inches or cm.
