In general, exhaust systems might consist of the following pieces:
- Front pipe
- Catalytic converter
- Intermediate pipe
- Central silencer
- Rear silencer
- Rear pipe
Every exhaust system is specific and it is a combination of the elements listed above. Since each of the exhaust piece is specially designed to fit a particular model of the car, you need to be very careful when picking up the exhaust. It is pretty easy to make a mistake and end up with the incorrect part 1 day before your MOT is due. And this is not what we want to happen.
First of all, you should NOT look at the picture only. Please mind that the photos in the LH upper corners are very often example images only and do not show the actual parts. The photo of the actual exhaust is shown down the page in the full item description section. It should only serve as a help to determine if the part is the right one or not, but it should not be the only directive guiding you towards the correct part.
What you should take a special attention to when searching for the correct exhaust, is the table down the page with all the car details listed. Every single detail should match your car so that you can be exactly sure that this exhaust is compatible with your vehicle:
- engine size
-body type (saloon/estate/hatchback) and door number
-whether it has a catalytic converter fitted or not
- BHP or KW
It might sound obvious, but it’s worth mentioning that diesel is not the same as turbo diesel. It is also different to SDi or JTD . The same refers to valves number, e.g. 1.6i-16V is different to 1.6.
When it comes to vans, you should also know whether it is long or short wheelbase. We are always ready to help if there is no indication on the listing. Just ask seller a question to clear all the doubts.
If you require mounting elements such as rubbers or clamps, you might click on the link ‘complete mounting kit for this piece’ which is on the listing below the photo of the actual exhaust. If the listing comes up with the kit, you might order it on ebay just the same way as you order the exhaust. Please mind it is a separate item, though the postage is free when you buy it together with the exhaust.
