Converting red, blue, green (RGB) signals into images is a very important task that involves transferring one colour of an image into another. Not all RGB conversion video output units are truly only RGB converters. It is helpful to see if the converter is either RGB in addition to composite video, or they can also RGB in addition to composite sync. This is not normally an issue that most television sets have a problem with converting, but it is also helpful to be aware that not all computers may react the same way if they are expecting output of the latter signal.

Determining the Correct Signal to Use

The type of signal that a person is able to use varies depending on a number of different things. One of the four things that should be considered when determining the correct signal to use is what type of outputs is already on the video source. The second is what type of outputs are already on the source that is meant for viewing. Choosing the Right Converter Method

When deciding between the different types of RGB signal converters that are available, it is helpful to consider the source the signal is going to be transferred to. DVD players most often have the largest range of format outputs, but other things, such as computers, can have issues with some signal formats. Although the choice is up to the user, the best overall choice is to choose the one that offers the best quality for the device that needs it.

It is important to note that although signal formats can be changed to a higher format, most often these changes do not make much of a difference except that it can negatively affect the picture quality. Since the signal has already gone through a down conversion, trying to upgrade conversion could result in increased pixilation or other image problems. S-Video is the format that is most often supported for household use. Changing S-Video format is switched often with AV amplifiers, but higher formats are extremely hard to change using this method as they are not commonly supported.
