Starter's Guide for the most popular scales for diecast toys and models.

1:12 - Very large models models (14/15 inches). High detail models. More expensive than the 1:18 models.

1:18 - Large models (7/8 inches).

1:24 - Common size sold in toy stores - similar to G scale model trains (1:22.5).

1:43 - Made popular by Dinky and Corgi. Very popular with collectors.

1:48 - Aircrafts sold in this scale to match plastic model kits.

1:50 - Trucks, buses, construction equipment, promotional models, military vehicles.

1:60 - Popular pre-war and post-war military vehicles series by Dinky Toys (including military Dinky Supertoys).

1:64 - Matchbox and HotWheels cars common size. Also truck and tractor models.

1:72 - A growing scale for military die-cast AFV's.

1:76 - Highly detailed. Mainly British buses and lorries such as those by EFE and Corgi.
