I have come to realize that shipping costs are not always as clearly defined as they should be, and this may help international buyers to better understand the Royal Mail services and options offered from the UK:

Shipping costs are divided into 2 categories: Europe, and 'The Rest of the World', which includes USA, Japan, China, Asia, as well as Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. For some unknown reason, eBay does not show New Zealand, or South Africa, and often  not even Australia on their drop down menu for postage and packing costs, and I receive many emails every week asking me for the shipping cost to these countries. To save you time and effort, simply take the shipping quote for USA, it will be the same.

* Airmail small packets is a service which carries an insurance compensation of up to £46, but with no tracking. The insurance cannot be elevated via this service. The weight is restricted to a maximum of 2Kg.

* International Signed For is a service which is fast and secure. It is calculated quite simply by adding £4.95 to the cost of an airmail small packet service. It will provide you with a tracking number and a signature will be required upon arrival. It does not however offer any higher an insurance compensation than £46.

* International Signed For service with enhanced insurance compensation will provide you with all the benefits stated above + automatic insurance up to £500. This service is calculated by adding £4.85 + £2.50 to the cost of an airmail small packet.

* Airsure.  That's the best, but the service only extends to certain countries (view the |Royal Mail website for a list of countries where Airsure services are available) This is calculated by addding £6 to an Airmail packet and adding another £2.50 for higher insurance.

I hope you will find this little note helpful!
