Without doubt, the Opticron Oregon 12-36x50 spotting scope has to be the best optics from a spotting scope I have seen for less than £100.
Included in the price is a soft carry case, table top tripod and an Oregon 10x25 monocular with case.
Dont try to compare this scope with the 15-45x60 Piccolo spotting scope supplied by Opticron.
Even with the smaller lens, the image quality, brightness, colours and contrast are so much better than the Piccolo.
I have also compared with the Visionary V60 V70 V80 scopes. Once again the little Oregon gives a brighter image than all three.
Optics are fully multicoated with a massive 34mm of eyerelief at 12x.
The eyecup can be easily folded down for spectacle wearers.
The zoom and focus are on the eyepiece. This can take a little getting used to, but is very easy after a short while.
There is some false colour at higher powers, but remember this is a kit for just £99.
Warranty is 5 years, compared to 1 year for the piccolo.
The tube can be rotated on its side. Ideal if being used with our heavy duty car window mount.
The scope is not waterproof
In my opinion there are larger aperture and higher power scopes for less money, but you will not get the image quality the Oregon can deliver.
