Should I buy an overbust corset or an underbust corset?

True to their names, an overbust corset covers the bust while an underbust corset covers the waist up to just below the breasts. The choice of model, like most things, comes down to what you intend to use it for. If you are going to wear your corset under your clothes, an underbust will be a better choice as it will be less noticeable both for you and others. Also, if waist training is on the agenda, an underbust is a better way to go.

Of course, there any number of exceptions to these rules of thumb. One notable example is steampunk. These aficionados often like to wear an underbust over classic Victorian blouses and shirts for an original twist. Quite striking - check it out.
