SPECIAL DELIVERY POSTAL PRICES AND CUSTOMER MOANS!

It has come to my attention that a number of people in Britain do not understand that Royal Mail SPECIAL DELIVERY is not a free service to ebay sellers. In fact it costs a minimum of £4.95. For that you get a next day service and insurance for items of jewellery and other valuables not covered by Recorded Delivery. Many sellers and buyers alike, do NOT realise that you cannot get compensation for an item of jewellery that is lost or damaged via Recorded Delivery. At the listing point of the selection of Special delivery this what comes up: "Royal Mail Special Delivery (TM) Next Day Service to United Kingdom". Now the less intelligent customer is thinking they will get the item the VERY NEXT DAY even though it was sold at half past MIDNIGHT! I have twice received complaints at the high cost of Special Delivery NEXT DAY when they have not received the item the VERY NEXT DAY. Now, I do not set the prices for Royal Mail( Oh that I could!) and I cannot always post the following day before 12am which is what is required by Royal Mail for next day delivery. I even put an explanation on my pages that the item will arrive NEXT DAY after posting, but no good! I just posted an item which was sold on the 9th, packed on the 10th, sent on the 11th and arrived on the 12th via Special delivery. It cost me £4.95 to send and I only charged £4.50 and yet got a complaint as it did not arrive THE NEXT DAY! Ebay should remove the NEXT DAY appendage to Special Delivery description as it is misleading and makes the seller look dodgy and wrong-footed when they cannot send Puck with a parcel to put a girdle around the Earth for a buyer! OR a drop down explanation of how Special delivery is important for jewellery, and sellers who are selling jewellery should not be allowed to select Recorded delivery which will not insure the item.
