The cost of posting Xmods

As a general guide an xmod starter kit complete with carry case weighs around 1.125kg (1125g). Having posted/shipped a number of xmods over the last few months I have noticed that some people are charging excessive postage costs when sending items via Royal Mail.

Obviously some sellers will send items via Courier and the cost of this will depend upon the courier used so therefore may vary from seller to seller..

Due to the weight this item CANNOT be sent via 2nd class post as it is far too heavy. The choices that you have left are via 1st class post or Royal Mail standard parcels unless you opt for a non-standard option.

The actual costs for sending this item are :-

£ 4.25 - Royal Mail 1st Class

£ 4.95 - Royal Mail Standars Parcels

£ 7.75 - Royal mail Next Day Special Delivery (guaranteed by 1pm next day)

£15.80 - Royal Mail Next Day Special Delivery (guaranteed by 9am next day)

£14.99 - Parcelforce 48 hour delivery

£18.99 - Parcelforce 24 hour delivery

£19.99 - Parcelforce next day by noon

£32.99 - Parcelforce next day by 10am

£40.99 - Parcelforce next day by 9am

Obviously these costs do not take into account the cost of any packaging materials used (a large padded envelope can cost at least £1.00) or other small costs that sellers absorb into their postage rates but at least will give you an idea as to whether you are being overcharged for postage.

An good example of what I myself would see as over charging is a seller charging £10 to send this item 1st class and then asking for an additional £3.50 to send by a next day service - when in reality the cost is £7.75 (as above) plus a small amount to cover packing materials etc.
