'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.', also referred to as 'Stalker', is a first-person shooter game for PCs. The environment is horrifying with a bleak atmosphere, destroyed landscapes, and unnerving missions. To bring the storyline a little closer to home for the players, it centres on an alternate reality in which another explosion at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant occurs and alters the surrounding areas. All three 'Stalker' games are compelling and addictive.
'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl'
The realistic set of the first 'Stalker' game reminds people of the potential dangers of nuclear power and then throws them into the midst of a realistic world deformed from an explosion at Chernobyl. The main character, known simply as the Marked One, is a scavenger who cannot remember anything about his past after the blast at the power plant. The goal of the Marked One is to find out his identity. He fights his way to the hot zone, which contains mutants and paranormal activity created from the nuclear radiation. As the player progresses through the 'Shadow of Chernobyl', bits and pieces of the character's memory return, and everything comes together when he makes it to the centre of Chernobyl and discovers he has been there before.
'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Clear Sky'
'Clear Sky' is a prequel to the first game. Something unknown knocks the Marked One unconscious, and he remembers nothing about his past when rescuers find him in the middle of nowhere. The scientists who help him are part of a group called Clear Sky. The character decides to track down his attacker, and he travels through many of the same places and meets many of the same characters that appeared in the first game. The Marked One suffers injuries at The Zone and is the lone survivor, so he teams up with Clear Sky to discover the cause of the human deformities at The Zone. The plan fails and sets the scene for 'Shadow of Chernobyl'.
'S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat'
After the Marked One finds a path into the centre of Chernobyl, the government decides to take control of the plant and investigate the area. Unfortunately, the large military operation fails when all the units die in helicopter crashes. Furious with the failure, the government hires a former S.T.A.L.K.E.R. agent to discover the cause of the crashes. He dispatches into The Zone and finds out that electrical currents are the source of the problem. He makes his way to the evacuation point and meets some military survivors along the way. Players in Call of Pripyat have a base but cannot escape. The mission is to get military aid into the victims and eventually get everyone safely out.
