iphone and ipod touch case's are not the same

Hi everyone, i thought i would write this article due to the number of sellers selling leather case's that they say are compatible with the iphone and ipod touch, they could'nt be more wrong and are wrongly advertising them as such an item. First lets look at the dimensions for the iphone, they are as follows;http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/specs.html

  • Height: 115 mm (4.5 inches)
  • Width: 61 mm (2.4 inches)
  • Depth: 11.6 mm (0.46 inch)

Aswell as this the iphone has a speaker cutout on the front, a hole on the rear for incar connection and also a volume rocker on the side. So i can safely say that a leather case for this item would have these cutouts which you would not want when protecting the ipod touch.

Now lets look at the dimensions for the ipod touch 8GB & 16GB, they are as follows;http://store.apple.com/Apple/WebObjects/ukstore.woa/wa/RSLID?nnmm=browse&mco=3587D03A&node=home/shop_ipod/family/ipod_touch

  • Height: 110mm
  • Width: 61.8mm
  • Depth: 8mm

A leather case for this ipod would have just 1 cutout on the front for the home button, a tiny cutout on top for the sleep/wake button and the dock/headphone cutout.

So as you can see they are totally different and the quicker the sellers on ebay realise and stop falsifiying listings to get custom from iphone AND ipod touch customers the better this will be for the end consumer. I hope this guide helps everyone who is on the lookout for protection of their ipod or iphone.
