There is absoloutly no excuse for lost valuable items or WHINGING ABOUT HAVING A PAYMENT REFUNDED BY PAYPAL ETC.The royal mail recorded delivery scheme is a joke you pay extra for the sole purpose of receiving a signature by the postie , however where it falls down is that it is not a reliable system and the tracking number provided on the slip is only usable if the parcel has been delivered and signed for , This means that if your item fails to show due to theft or just being unacounted for in the bottom of a mailbag you cannot trace it and the compensation is exactly the same as first class mail 28.00 pounds after 10 days plus all the proof you can get of the contents or you might just get 12 first class stamps AS A GESTURE.Also postal orders are classed as cash and you will not receive any compensation as you are advised in small print by royal mail that cash is not covered .Another point is that paypal for some stupid reason accept theses tracking numbers as proof of postage and will not refund you if you have not recieved an item paid for and sent by this system .NOBODY KNOWS WHERE THESE RECORDED ITEMS ARE IN THE SYSTEM UNTIL IT HAS BEEN DELIVERED.This is not the case with special delivery which is extremely reliable under most circumstances except the following.
If your item has been stolen from the royal mail during a robbery on a branch, postman or mail van etc you will not be compensated as you are not covered by the royal mail compensation scheme in these circumstances at all. so beware be warned and get clued up about postage charge a bit more for valuable items most purchasers will pay for peace of mind.
lost items in post no excuses
