Decals: The three sheets contain decals for four United States Army Air Force (USAAF) Republic P-47D Thunderbolt aircraft all serving with the 56th Fighter Group (FG), 8th Air Force (AF), one with the 61st Fighter Squadron (FS), two with the 62nd FS and a P-47D flown by the Commanding Officer of the 56th FG.

The first main sheet of water slide decals includes Black and Yellow stencilled bureau numbers for the tail surfaces, Black and White aircraft codes, four paired sets of Black digits I to 4 to number the 0.50” machine giun’s on the wing leading edges, nose art in the form of Yellow and Red edged in Yellow Orange “Miss Fire/Rozzie Geth II ” titles for Capt Christensen’s P-47 and Yellow, shadowed in Black “Penrod and Sam” titles for Capt Johnson’s P-47, four styles of one and two part victory markings over Luftwaffe aircraft including victory markings for Lt Col Gabreski’s P-47and victory markings for Capt Christensen’s P-47, three Black data blocks, Yellow pilot and ground crew names Col Schilling’s P-47, Black placards incorporating the pilot and ground crew names for Capt Christensen’s P-47 and data/stencils including NO STEP and Black diagonal stripes to mark the kick steps.

The second main sheet of dry rub on decals includes additional Yellow and Black bureau numbers, an additional four paired sets of Black digits I to 4 to number the 0.50” machine giun’s on the wing leading edges, additional victory markings, additional Black placards incorporating the pilot and ground crew names for Capt Christensen’s P-47, two styles of propeller manufacturer markings and one complete set of comprehensive data/stencils including data blocks, Red panel outlines, Red no step blocks for the wing roots, Yellow data blocks, CANOPY RELEASE, FUEL FILLER SUITABLE FOR AROMATIC FUELS, NO STEP, NO PUSH, STEP, WATER DRAIN VENT LINE etc and an additional Black stripe indicating a kick step. The third small water slide sheet includes the detailed nose art in the form of “Hairless Joe” cartoon character, on a large White disc, from the Dogpatch cartoon strip, for nose of Col Schilling’s P-47 and a large seated burnette nude for the nose of Capt Christensen’s P-47.

There are sufficient decals to complete one of the four P-47 Thunderbolt aircraft from the sheet in full. The P-47D’s flown by Lt Col Gabreski and Col Schilling are both finished in a camouflage of Royal Air Force (RAF) Dark Green and RAF Ocean Grey uppers over Medium Sea Grey lowers with a Red nose cowl bands, Gabreski’s P-47 has Red rudder surfaces and Schilling’s P-47 has Yellow rudder surfaces. The P-47D’s flown by Capt Christensen and Capt Johnson are finished natural metal overall, both P-47’s have Red nose cowl bands and Yellow rudder surfaces.

Also includes double sided A4 colour placement guide showing side profiles and a second double sided A4 black and white data/stencil guide.
