I bought this Navigator V new because my 2014 R1200gs is fitted with sat nav prep fot it. I have to say that, being a long time TomTom user, I found the Garmin unit to be slow, clunky and the display was not so good as my, much cheaper, Rider410. I did some comparison checks and after 2 weeks ownership I sold it on Ebay taking a £60 loss. The fact that it "talks" to the BMW interface via the little left handle bar wheel is great but I found it to be more of a toy to be honest. All of the same info is available, although not quite so easy to see, on the standard BMW instrument panel. Buy one if you want the full BMW experience but expect to be left far behind by the TomTom offering. The Rider 410 keeps you up to date with your progress and shows the names of villages and towns as you navigate through them. With the Garmin unit your location becomes a mystery especially if you are in a non UK location that is unfamiliar. I made an expensive error. If you like Garmin software you might love it. It's beautifully built and feels expensive. It also comes with a nice protective case. You're paying so you need to decide. For me, I just removed the BMW sat nav preparation gubbins. Bought a BMW accessory lead and used the same electrical connection as the standard gps fitting. It works the same, switching off after 5 minutes when the ignition is switched off. Also I can easoly return the bike to standardwhen I sell it in a few years time.Read full review

I was told the VI version wouldn’t fit my 2012 bike and that I needed the V version but I can’t see why the V would fit but the VI won’t. Apparently the VI has a better screen in strong sun. I did a trip from Oxfordshire to Wimbledon and back yesterday and it worked really well. I did lose communication with my old scala rider Bluetooth helmet earpiece (battery low I think) and a message popped up that needed 3 or 4 presses to get rid of (could maybe have used a side button but was in traffic trying to find my way so didn’t think). Apart from that it was flawless. Quite expensive but got me there. Wish there was an option to show the time that was clearer. There is one but it’s not the clearest of the dashboard layout. Still playing with it though. All in all much better than a paper map or using my phone.Read full review

Must have option to go with my new GS 1200 a little bit expensive and had to upgrade straight out of the box but if you have pre installation works well. Especially when blue toothed with I phone and AGV helmet intercom.
