My family have used Brasso metal polish for many years, going back to parents and grand parents. It is the best product for cleaning brass and also copper. The only downside is that when it dries, it leaves a white residue, which is a bit harder to remove from more detailed items when polishing.

I bought the Brasso as I have quite a few brass pieces, but don't clean them too much as I like the patina. I also purchased it because a friend has told me that it's good for getting scratches out of mirrors and as I have a large mirror above the fireplace with a scratch in it thought I'd give it a go and what do you know it works! Have to put Brasso on a cloth and gently go round the scratch in circles, may have to do it a few times depending on the scratch. Great product, glad it's still being made.

Purchased Liquid Brasso to see if it would remove a smear/scratch surface caused by a windscreen wiper blade on a car windscreen. Bearing in mind the product uses are not listed for use on glass. The smear/scratch was not deep and was not detectable by a finger nail test but was visible. Used a micro cloth buffer in conjunction with an electric drill.Took a lot of time but eventually worked.
