Curly Maple Cap
I've listed this guitar as "Manufacturer Refurbished" because I partially refinished it after it spent some time at a music store. It's in very good condition, the face is perfect, but there are still a couple small indentations on the backside of the lower edge where it was leaned on the counter to be played. There is a word for those kinds of people.
So, I finally got a chance to play this thing. My typical thing is to run through certain riffs that let me cover the whole fretboard, looking for weak spots. None found. Great action up and down. Great intonation and it stays in tune. I build most of my guitars with the lead guitarist in mind and this one is right on the mark. It's got 22 jumbo frets with plenty of meat left for multiple re-crowns down the road.
In terms of playability and tone, I'd say this guitar is very close to my #158 which can be seen here:
The neck is on the fat side with a comfortable U-shape that flattens out by the tenth fret into sort of a C-shape. I played it at length and was not fatigued. It's finished with satin lacquer for minimal drag. The neck is glued into the body a full five inches. This adds a sturdiness and resonance that bolt-ons can't match. And setnecks allow for a much smoother neck/body transition.
It's wired for maximum tonal range. Both Seymour Duncan humbuckers are individually tapped for a jangly tele type tones with twang to spare. Individual volume controls let you blend them any which way.
Full humbucker mode covers everything else.
The body has three layers: a Curly Maple top and back, and a semi-hollow Alder core. The hollowness is a major component of the overall tone of my guitars. They have almost a human tone.
Just to let you know, my guitars are handmade from scratch. No Robots! Afterall, you play them by hand, shouldn't they be made by hand?
I look forward to hearing from you.
