I would like to think that I bought the Galaxy Tab P1000 with my eyes wide open. Whilst it isn't as slim or lightweight as the ipad it was also less costly, then again it is also smaller too. I wanted something that could be upgraded when the next version of android came along and that would perform such basics as accessing the web, accessing my PC remotely, using a nifty little app phonemyPC and predominanly as an ebook reader. I have installed Kindle, Kobo and FBReader this combination allows me to access a wide range of book titles. Pity I am such a slow reader, because I use so many of this little beauty's features that I scarcely have any time left to read. It is funny trying to use it as a standard phone but it does still do the job in an emergency, I have a smaller Galaxy S2 for my day to day phoning. Also I got a good deal with a network that essentially seems to give me 500mb data per month for only £10 for the year, but I would have to add additional credit if this money was used making calls or sending messages but even if I allowed it to run out I would still have my data allowance. Sygic and Co-Pilot are two great Sat Nav apps that seem to work well, and I have always been a diehard TomTom fan. I still prefer TomTom's POI's but hey ho it's a small price to pay for having a 7" sat nav enabled monster. Remote viewing of my PC is a little awkward using PhonemyPC but is still doable but would probably benefit from a 10" version. Battey life is not fantastic, but serves my needs and I have tried to be good dischargig it as much as possible before plugging it in to top the battery up.Read full review
I like this device since it has all the main features you want in a light and easy to carry package. You can even make and receive calls. The screen is bright and clear and is suitable for watching movies and browsing the Internet. The battery lasts a day with average use, I didn't have a problem with the version of Android but it is old now and some will prefer the Tab 2 for this reason. My only real issue is that it doesn't fit into a pocket like a phone and with no keyboard it cant really be used for serious work. In the end I got a small laptop for serious work and Galaxy Tab for mobile internet/movies/email. If you want movies and internet on the go but don't need the power of a laptop then get one of these to compliment your phone. It is still a great device and you can pick them up really cheap. It is robust and nice to use get the 3G one and place a SIM in it and you have mobile device for browsing and email anywhere. Very cool.Read full review
I bought this Tab for the following reasons; It was great value for money and its a Samsung. I have tried so many other brands but nothing compares to Samsung unless your a goat hearded Apple fan. The apps are fantastic, most are free and your not tied to any company for apps or music or movies. The 3G and H data modes word great and the wifi function lets you watch bbc iplayer with almost the functionality of a desktop PC. You have the added advantage or the SD storage card, 32GB card will allow you to download off wifi all the data you want ie BBC iPlayer programs, and then you can watch them without wifi later, but you will need 3G/H to get the license to watch, giffgaff I find are good value sims for this device; and as such, you can make telephone calls, SMS and even email, this just blew me away with all this features This is the Tab version 1 not to be confused with the Tab2 from Samsung, they run different operating systems. the Tab2 is the one to go for if you want even extra features, like TV on the go with a special adaptor that does not require a sim or wifi, you get freeview - for free, and can record programes too -so I'm told. Nonetheless this original version 1 Tab works great, It's lightening fast and the picture quality is only just, a little, not as good as the TAB2, However, unless you compare the two next to each other you would never know the difference. This is a great starter Tab. If you have the money go for the version 2 Tab, If you want to spend less than the original is fantastic. One word of warning: The Tab1 I got didn't have the up-to-date Adobe products installed and BBC iPlayer couldn't work. Adobe have discontinued their versions that enable android (or this version of android 2.2) to play Iplayer. However, on the site there is a hidden Archive of the most recent 10.1 version. I downloaded it and installed it and problem solved. be warned though, its difficult to find this hidden archive but google it, and you have the right page up in seconds. Other that the slightly outdated opperating system which I would compare with windows; say, the difference between windows XP and Vista, This Tab is Fab. Just one last thing, this tab can do so much, but I use it as a phone and to watch and listen to programmes and music, it has it all, bluetooth wifi and Sim card, not to mention the additional SD card if you want it. And the built in speakers are great for phone calls and you dont have to have the device stuck to your head the microphone is so sensitive you can ues it for conferance calls or if you can't be bothered to hold the phone during a call. if comes with a media player so any films or music you might have on a hard drive somewhere can be loaded onto the memory, however, the samsung player struggles with some formats like avi, divx etc.... there are some fantactic player apps out there that correct lipsync and play every format ever made I use MX player from the apps store, you have the option which player to use when you select the video. All in all, 10/10, and belive me, I'm very critical of rubbish products, Samsung Made complicated technology easy to use, but the most important thing to know, is that thier products work Flawlessly.Read full review
We bought a number of samsung galaxys to work to run a purpose built bus communication system with our office for which i feel this tab is very well suited. Due to its size it fits very nicely in to a double din car radio slot. For any car enthusiast looking to build his own flashy MP3 player, this, or something a lot like this would be idea. However i feel that this tablet is not a good soloution for personal users as it is small compared to its competitors.
I am very happy with my new Galaxy tab. Before Ive never had a device from Samsung so I was a bit sceptical, but this item just bate all my doubts right after the first touch. I love the applications which are on and those available for download. It is a great help for organazing your time and avoiding to carry a pen and paper on you. Apart from the not neglectable image enhancement that it provides, it is something like a personal assisstant which features all the functions like your phone. So for a meeting or travelling you really need just this and nathing else. As Im also a student right now, I appreciate work on documents and presentations, which I can study on the plane or on traffic lights when Im rushing for an exam. I could find only two major handycaps of this item: - difficult to maintain you music with the pre-installed palyer, but if you download one of the plenty android market players you will be satisfied - the battery does not last very long, if you use it extensively you need charging practically every day. In normal use as a phone once in two days. But if I compare it to ipad or ipod, this is something in the middle of the two. It is not an ultimate smartphone like ipod and it is a better PDA compared to ipad. To sum up, A GREAT CHOICE :-)Read full review
