Unlike many similar products, this one is designed to minimise potential damage to the operator's hands. Otherwise, it is an effective device which can lightly sharpen a blade quite quickly, giving a good finish. Ideal for blades which are not damaged. Nicely styled and finished, so it looks smart in the kitchen.

It's flimsy cheaper than cheap, knock off style rubbish! Even the inadequate screws were hanging out and the so called sharpening blades were no more than chromed bits of old iron which did nothing at all. Didn't even grip the knife. I've had 4 of this type previously (not from eBay) and all were well made and great sharpeners. This one now lives in my bin!

Incorrect use of this tool runs the risk of serious injury to the user. You need to hold the knife on a flat surface with its cutting edge facing upwards, then draw the tool along the blade. Don't draw the blade along the tool - it could easily slash you!! There are no written instructions, just a very indistinct picture on the packaging.

I have a sharpener in the same design bought in a hardware shop some years ago which is really good and I wanted another one to give to my son. Sadly this one might look the same but it is useless - just cheap thin metal in the sharpening slot that does nothing. Gone in the bin.
