BY BIDDING ON THIS AUCTION YOU ACCEPT THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AS DETAILED AT THE END OF THIS LISTING.
This auction is for the chance to have lunch or (for bidders further away) a long phone conversation with James Barclay, bestselling author of the Raven series, the Estorea duology and the Elves books. James will be happy to talk about his books, his career, other books, life and anything else you'd like to discuss! You will also be joined by Simon Spanton, James' editor and Deputy Publishing Director of Gollancz. Gollancz will also supply free copies of some of James' books, including the yet-to-published Elves: Rise of the TaiGethen James Barclay was born in Felixstowe, Suffolk, in 1965 and is the third of four children. He gained a BA (Hons) in Communication Studies in Sheffield before heading to London to train as an actor. With acting roles in short supply, he worked in marketing and advertising until 2004 when he became a full time author. James is the creator of the two Raven trilogies: Chronicles of The Raven and Legends of The Raven, and the epic fantasy duology, The Ascendants of Estorea. If you win this auction and want to donate it to a friend or relative as a gift, we will provide you with a 'gift certificate' posted to you (or them) before Christmas. If the recipient is under 18, a guardian will need to come with them to the lunch. The actual date for the lunch will be arranged to the mutual agreement of the winner, James and Simon. The meal will be in the Soho/Covent Garden area, and it is your responsibility to make your way there and back. We'll pay for lunch and drinks for one person. Default settings are probably pizza or Chinese, but requests for particular foodstuffs will be met with enthusiasm. We're not taking you to the Ivy, though. This is about the company, not the food! Many thanks to James for donating his time! This auction is being run by the Orion Publishing Group (which includes Gollancz, Weidenfeld & Nicolson and Orion Books). Authors published by the group include Ian Rankin, Joanna Lumley, Harlan Coben and many many more. Please check out our other auctions, all for charity and including such prizes as: lunch with a best-selling author, reviews of your writing by Gollancz editors, your name in a book and loads of brilliant books! By bidding on this auction you accept the following terms and conditions: -Should you be the lucky winner, well done you, but remember, winning
does not mean that James will do anything other than have lunch with you. It does mean you
have paid the highest price to have lunch with her. It also means that you've helped out our charity, which is good. -This opportunity is what it says it is, so don’t expect anything other than what we say we are going to give you for your winning bid – i.e. lunch! -All bidders must be 16 or over. If you're under 18, we won't buy you beer. Please contact us if you want to arrange this lunch for someone under 18, who will require a guardian to attend with them. -And finally, you agree to let us keep and look after those personal contact details you provide to us for as long as we need to (so we can get in touch with you and pass on comments/post things out!). Good luck. |
