It has a heavy, soiid feel about it. I haven't yet tried to mount our tandem on it. My guess is that it will be OK but borderline; too early to say for sure. I was disappointed that the height adjustment tube (one tube inside another) takes a lot of tightening. I have found it necessary to slide a cable tie into the tube to help with the tightening up to take up the slack between the 2 tubes. This is not a huge problem and overall it is great to be able to work on the bike at a comfortable height with no problem of overbalancing due to wide spread of the feet.

This looks identical to the stand being sold by Halfords, but it costs a lot less. I tried it out the other day, and though my bike weighs in at a hefty 18kg, it coped well. I was able to change the gear mechanism, and set it all up far more easily than if the bike was on the floor. It's not perfect though - the knobs that tighten the tubes for setting height etc need to be turned very tight otherwise it slips. The actual bracket for the bike cross tube is very well designed and holds the bike well. All in all, a very good value well designed and useful product - glad I bought it. It collapses to a very compact shape for storage too.

This is a very good stand, it holds my modern bike without issue also it holds my old heavy weight Raleigh maverick no problem. It’s a fair price as there are many that cost more and are useless. I can rotate my bike on it or raise it up so I’m not working with my back hunched. Shame I don’t have a garage or a garden.

Having seen the local bike shop professional stands in use I expected this to be of lesser quality. I was wrong. It is stable and solid and all the parts work well. So far I have had three different bikes clamped in by either seat post or cross bar and it copes well.

Having read the other reviews I was prepared for the sliding tube clamp to require a lot of tightening to grip properly. Examining the clamp showed that a relief slot in the plastic sleeve, which should allow the clamp to move towards the inner tube, was not completely cut through and not long enough to allow the clamping band to move without a lot of force as the whole clamp needs to be distorted. A quick modification with a saw to open up and extent the slot now allows mine to clamp easily with normal tightening of the knob. I've no doubt invalidated any guarantee but it now works a treat.
