A collectors dream:
Maton Fyrbyrd. 620FB Sharkbite S/n 426
This Fyrbyrd Sharkbite shape was only made in 1962 and 1963 and this serial number dates either late 62 or early 63.
( These are general details from Maton collectors please check for specifics)
Cream with red plate and all original fittings inc. Bigsby. Three pick up, 22 fret. All original logos on body and headstock.
Headstock and body has usual crazing and it has a number of dings commensurate with age. The tail end strap button is missing. Don’t know if the front upper bout strap button is original. Original machine heads though the 1st string looks very slightly shinier than the others but is exactly the same type? It is also very slightly bent but still usable, did not try to straighten in case of breakage. ( See picture ) On Fyrbyrds the paintwork goes right up to the fretboard so this tends to come off along the neck edge as pictured.
There is blue strap discolouration to the bottom rear of the guitar.( See picture ) All pick ups and switches work ( inc. Hi-Fi,Cool and Sound Barrier !!!), but they could all do with a spray with switch cleaner to stop 50 years of crackle!
I’ve tried to make an honest appraisal, mentioning all relevant info but this gem is fifty years old so please check the photos or email for any further information. Includes non original hard case.
