This was not the first time I've used this brand of self-etching primer. I bought a second can because I had such good results with the first when painting an aluminium sheet a few months ago. Same this time too with another aluminium surface. However the spray nozzle has either been redesigned or had some sort of issue because off centre I definitely had more 'blobbing'. I'm sure that is not the right term but what I mean is rather than the fine, even spray I had a noticeable number of larger droplets fall on the outer edges of the spray area. The item being painted was coated smoothly but the protective wooden background board it was propped up against had a number of these larger blobs each side of the object.. With more absorbent surfaces, like wood they'd be covered up by a second coat and there would be no issue. But with any metal surfaces it needs perfect evenness each time for a good, smooth finish. The conditions, all the preparation and spraying instructions were followed precisely. The nozzle was cleaned between each of the two coats but I still had the same thing the second time too. Maybe it was my spraying technique but I was left thinking that maybe the spray nozzle was to blame. Read full review

I normally use an air compressor and spray gun. But this was only a small job so decided to use rattle cans. U POL is a familiar name to me so bought a couple of cans of Etch primer. I was really impressed by the coverage the paint had and the colour was just brilliant. So much so I'm having some top coat mixed in this same rich grey colour to re spray my motorcycle. All in all 15/10 from me two thumbs up also. Take it from me use this primer and you won't be disappointed at all.

Don't be worried about the price, it's good primer + it's 500ml not the higher priced 400ml option - I'll say that I gone through 4 cans in one day all the paint in the can was ran out fully & still the can had lots of pressure left in ready to go. It coats nice & dries to a dry Lt/medium grey when wet a vry dark near black colour - fully dry 3 hours in 9 degree temps. Though I wish I could get etch white primer in the same brand...... maybe a not far price that would be wonderful.

A very good product. It does what I want it to, I providing a secure base coat key for successive paint coats. Quantity for price, it is good value. I use it for diecast modelling. I can use it with other paint brands & get no anti reaction

An effective propellant until its emptied. Excellent adhesion, and a quality flat mid grey finish, which covers very well. Especially good used on certain alloy parts etc.
