Welcome to my auction for my Mk 1 polo
This car started life as a completely standard polo mk1 with 28,000 miles on the clock
I bought the car with the intention to build a sprint car and general fun toy and I feel like I have achieved that in every way. At a sprint I came 2nd out of 44 cars only to be beaten by a 3 litre Toyota mr2
The car has a few months of MOT left on it and several months of tax and I have a huge folder with previous history,
Please bear in mind that this is now a race car or sprint car and although is fully road registered, tax’d, insured and MOT’d it is not good on fuel and is very low geared! It’s awesome fun and great to drive but to make it into a daily driver or show car I would advise fitting a polo mk3 gearbox and standard injection system back on the car, there is only 1 seat so I cannot test drive the car legally, however if you want to contact me and arrange a test im sure I can arrange something
The original engine on the car was removed and replaced with a dyno’d polo 1.4 16v AFH engine (80,000 miles) at 128bhp however I removed the injection system and replaced with a set of tuned Yamaha thundercat bike carbs and fuelling is dealt from the standard bike set up. I custom made the manifold myself and ported the cylinder head to match the manifold and optimise flow. I have not had the current setup dyno’d but would imagine it to be around the 135 figure. During engine installation 1500 miles ago I replaced the water pump, timing belt, oil filter and did a complete service on the engine
I am using the standard gearbox but did change the oil. This I feel is the weak area of the car however there is no whines or problems from it yet but it was only designed to take 40bhp so I have been careful with launches. There is a brand new complete clutch kit installed which I picked up for a snitch on eBay.
Exhaust on the car is dealt with a 4-2-1 stainless manifold, a straight through system and a side exit exhaust, this exhaust system is very loud and if you’re thinking about using this on the street often then I would advise fitting a quieter system. I would also advise purchasing some socks for the bike carbs, I usual run gauzes when driving around town
In the pictures there is a full nitrous kit installed in the car, this will not be included in the auction although is for sale if needed but I have never used it on this engine, I was going to install should I choose to go back to injection on it but never found the need
The car as standard weighs about 675kg. I have removed about 50kg from the car I imagine and I would hope with the splitrims the weight is about 600kg stand alone
The wheels are a bit special and incredibly light, they are genuine 3 piece split rims and are lighter than my magnesium BBS wheels that I have. They are MAMBA Solar wheels and are used on classic endurance cars, they are multistud fitment to run triumph and of course 4x100, they are different offsets but 9.5 J all round and the first polo in the country to run wheels this wide on the front.
Tyres are dealt with using AVON CR500 caterham tyres, they are just about road legal and you can drive home on them but will probably need changing at some point fairly soon if you want to stay legal.
Suspension is some very expensive KW coilovers on the rear from someone who didn’t need them for their caddy conversion and fronts are average aftermarket front springs with bilstien dampers, suspension is quite high on the rear as I have chosen not to cut out the rear arches yet but wide arches have been fitted all round should you wish to get the rear very low.
There is a rear strut brace fitted to the car although the gas ran out on my welder so again for safety I would run a bead round it,
Interior was stripped and binned as it was no good and replaced with an expensive kirkey race seat, the harness is my friends so will not be included im afraid, I can help fit one if you wish to purchase one and send it to me first though if you wish to drive the vehicle home
there is no stereo in the car and unfortunately the gauge holder in the picture are also my friends so will not be included although 2 of the gauges are cheap and your welcome to them, the giant rev clock in included though and although a bit fast and the furious the shift light is very useful.
The exterior is not perfect in any way im afraid, there are little dinks and dents on the car all over and I was going to get the car professionally repainted but I found people loved the Matt red paint and its nice and easy to keep clean (just spray over marks) the front panel was a little rusty so we welded a plate in and fibre glassed the front, was a bit of a quick job and if you’re looking to restore the car then I would probably change this. The jagermeister stickers are from my BMW sponsorship pack and again I can remove them if not to your taste
This car has huge potential and has been snapped up in several magazines, currently waiting for golf plus to get back to me about a full feature.
The only thing worth mentioning is the passenger front plastic arch is broken. I can supply and fit a new one for 30 pounds
I can be contacted by clicking ask seller a question or on 07703739575
The car is in Stevenage in Hertfordshire.
