I had a pair of these in the 90s. They were the best speakers I've owned. I made the mistake of selling them about 8 years after I bought them. I now have a pair of LS7ts and will not part with them. I haven't found any other speakers to match them.

I have a pair of LS3/5a, and I found that the 7's had all the qualities that I liked about the LS3/5a's, but with an extra octave of bass. The LS7's are bigger than the LS3/5A which I suppose accounts for the extra bass. They have a very neutral midrange that make vocals sound very natural. The imaging is excellent and give modern speakers a good run for the money. The bass is so impressive!! - modern speakers just don't sound the same, unless you're able to spend a huge amount of money. It's very clear and natural, and doesn't boom like some modern and expensive speakers Ive compared them to.What I like best is that if there is bass in the music…you hear it…if not,you don’t,and a lot of modern speakers produce bass that always sounds the same and doesent move up and down the scale like it should. These LS7s are quite efficient (88dB/W), meaning that they can be driven easily with a decent amp,and I found them well suited to the old Rogers A75 I used and also my naim pre and power amps,in fact most amps I tried them with sounded good, but the better the amp…they really sing! Looking at the difference in price between these LS7s and the LS3/5a I much prefer the bass of the LS7s and cant justify the difference in price between them.So for me,having used both, its got to be the LS7s.. By the way, they really need to be up off the floor at least 10-12 inches.Read full review
