At the £50 mark this is a bargain, at £99 there is probably more competition, but I've found it to be very solid in a number of travelling scenarios where carrying any other type of tripod just would not have been possible. This includes both very hot and cold climates / snow etc. Although it is not the ultimate in lightweight, it is not noticeable when carrying and it can take some abuse. I use an average size SLR so even with some of my longer lenses / grip I'm looking at 1.5KG tops. Hahnel confirmed to me that the max weight it can support is the same for the mono-pod on its own as it can as the tripod form. Good adjustment, mono-pod leg is a real bonus. Good padding in the bag and includes an allen key if you need to tighten the legs. I've had mine for almost 4 years and it hasn't let me down. Yes, as a travel tripod it is not the tallest, but that is a compromise I'm happy with. I'm 5ft 8 in tall and I can raise the centre column to an acceptable height, but that does start to increase the chance of movement. For anyone closer to 6ft tall +, I'd suggest you might want to look elsewhere (or get used to backache). I have used the tripod at almost full extension and been lucky with the wind conditions that long exposures have been fine. Sometimes the locking screws for locking the pan-head / ball get in the way and it is fiddly having to adjust two items, but at the same time, you've got a setup that will allow for panning, so again it is a compromise I'm happy with. Sometimes wish the legs required less effort to lock / un-lock and I am sure the legs and centre column lock in different directions (opposite threads) which can be frustrating when you forget. Compared to say a manfrotto where you have a open / close lever, it does take more time, but not the end of the world. If it broke, I wouldn't have much hesitation buying another at the £50 mark. Excellent product, light and easy to carry. Very good value for money.

I wanted something small and portable and cheap and this fits the bill. There's some small movement in wind and it is easy to unscrew the legs too far but it all fits back together simply enough and does the job, albeit in an unspectacular way. I've seen some better designs but you're paying twice the price for them and the flexibility to use it as a mono is really good too. I'd definitely recommend it for the casual user
