This is my third Epiphone Hummingbird, having a 1995 and a 2003. Before Epiphone discontinued the model, replacing it w/ the acoustic/electric Hummingbird Pro. they were finishing the top w/ the most gorgeous faded cherry sunburst top, The shape of the body more in line w/ the "classic" Gibson Hummingbird square shoulder, dimensions being almost identical to the original also. Mahogany sides lend a great "mellow" sound w/ the solid spruce top, and the classic looking pickguard is slightly larger than the past Epi issued one. I modified it w/ an endpin mounted preamp/ w/ an internal condenser microphone to make as unobtrusive installation as possible. I love the sound. Great guitar to hear and to look at. A
Anniversary Gift for Husband. He had been looking for a Gibson Hummingbird Acoustic but were priced out of our price range. This guitar was very reasonably priced $200 to $300 range. The color is a very clear, brillant red tone. The pick guard has the very delicate hummingbird design with the tube flowers that set off the looks of the guitar. The guitar plays and sounds great and husband says that he could play for hours and it doesn't hurt his fingers. The action is very easy on the fingertips. We are both very happy!
A beautiful instrument with excellent tone and superb action. I've owned and played a number of guitars in the past 40 years, but this one has become my favorite. In addition to being comfortable to play, it is easy to tune and holds the tuning better than many.
This is a great sounding and affordable version of the classic Gibson model. The tone is bright and clear and not too bass-y.
