Okay, had an unusual build here - a new-old-stock XP system in a modern case. My 2009-era AM2+ board has a single PWM slot, and my CiT case had a 92mm fan slot but only 80mm (and horrid / noisy / molex) fan installed. Arctic still make a good CPU fan solution (Alpine 64 GT Rev. 2 - matching series to this fan), and combined with this case fan which has a board-connector as well as a second PWM plug, I daisy-chained the CPU fan in series and this is as "smart" as a "smarter" motherboard, it adjusts speed / turns off either fan when and as needed based on reported board temperature. I also got to this fan via an 80mm (the F8) - as before arrival it wasn't stated that the case supported 92mm fans. The noise reduction in a 92mm fan is so noticable, that I cannot emphasise it enough. If you have the option of installing at least a 92mm fan in your case - please make that small investment. I am very pleased with the price / performance and "smarts" of these Arcitc fans and would now use again in the future.Read full review

very quiet fan, just wanting to point out that this fan will move less air than a faster fan. but i am very happy my computer is barely audible now.

So glad I am finally able to utilise my pc to it’s greatest

Works very well on a 4-pin fan header of an ASUS motherboard. I like the possibility to chain two or more fans to the same header. Slowest speed with PWM control is quiet.

Easy to fit and a bit quieter than the original single fan, even though there are now two fans. Power sharing cabling very useful for fitting extra fans.
