Only buy genuine
Genuine inks are expensive. In over 20 years of using exclusively HP printers and ink at home and with clients, I have never had a problem. However I have repaired many client printers who broke my golden rule and binned more that were beyond economic repair. The way to overcome the cost issue is to buy short or out dated ink. I always check the expiry date with sellers and I make a value judgement between cost and age. I usually XL cartridges and also buy more than one cartridge to save on postage costs. Original cartridge always the best choice
Original cartridges are always the best choice for HP printers. I find some non original inks can cause problems with the print heads.

Worth the premium
HP original inks are guaranteed to provide good copies and although you can buy cheaper OEM's, I've not found any to be as reliable as HP.
