When my wife was ill with pancreatic cancer and didnt feel like watching tv, I used to record her shows that she liked on a blank dvd in the recorder and then when she was well enough i would show them to her. Shes been gone now 10 yrs and i still have the compulsion to Record stuff. My kids ask me why i record so many programmes and i tell them its just out of habit... I miss her so much. My mum is in a care home and i would record any Andre Rieu concert and play it to her and it makes her so happy 😊 When the LG DVD Recorder i had stopped working i thought ok thats that, but when i seen the one on ebay it gave me s sense of hope and now im so happy. Thank you.

The main reason I purchased the player is to be able to record programmes onto discs. It won't record on the unused +R discs I have even though the previous ones I've bought from new it would do. Also the recordings from +RW are hit or miss. SuccessFull recordings for playback are 50/50. For example tonight I've recorded a programme; where the title; date abd length of the programme are displayed but when I into it automatically jumps back to the first programme on the menu and just plays that. I can usually tell will happen after I've recorded a programme when it saves with the yellow bar counter when I press stop but will do nothing when I press eject. Eventually I have to switag the power off to do anything. When switching back on it ejects straight away without backing it up. This happens too often.Read full review

After soom online research I have learnt how to master this DVD Recorder. It does everything I ask of it, and records in many different formats, so I can get longer films on it at a lower Res or record short 1 hour long TV shows at High Res. So overall it is a Bargain and works very well. The only draw-back is the screen size both in Recording and Playback, I can't get it to widescreen. I'm sure it can be done, but i haven't worked it out yet. So if you are looking for a Budget Recorder, you can't go wrong with this, Don't waste time with LG's website for help though. Look at some online forums for any qusetions you need answering.
Bought this for a second TV. It is a fairly unobtrusive but good looking unit which is simple to set up and use. The only reservation I have about it is that the record light (LED type) is very small and sometimes difficult to see to confirm that recording has started. The remote control is good, well laid out and easy to understand and use.
A really good machine, but quite complicated to operate, with so many options. Bought it new and literally flogged it recording wise, which is what I bought it for initially, doing and average of 5-8 hours a week for two years before it finally played up and I had to replace it. However it still functioned perfectly on the free view side and also as a DVD player only. If you want Free view, and a recorder, and you have a fair grasp of technology then this is for you. If you just want a recorder, get the one I replaced this one with, that is the LG DR275, A cracking machine, and very easy to use.
