"I read the reviews about this but was still a bit skepticle. However, it really is as good as everyone says it is. I am in no way a DIY expert. All you need to be is able to go up ladders and drill holes. Quite simply you screw the cameras to where you want them, connect the cables and hook it up to a tv. The only problem I had was that the HD TV I connected it to in order to test it before I set up the cameras and ran the cables through the loft, was too old! It's a 5 year old HD Panasonic tv and it was not compatible with the system. This wasn't a problem for me (other than me initially thinking the system was broken) as the tv I actually wanted to connect to was compatible as its a newer tv. Also the system needs to be able to be connected to a router or booster it's not wifi (I believe). However Sky give free boosters so they are obviously cheap/ free to get. Another point is that the instructions say to buy an HDMI/SVGA cable to connect the hard drive to the tv as one isn't provided. However you don't need this cable. There is an HDMI port in the back of the hard drive so you just need a standard HDMI cable. This really is an excellent product. It easy to use and navigate the system. Plus the after sales help is very good. I messaged them on a Saturday lunchtime and got a reply a few hours later (telling my my tv could probably be incompatible). I am in no way connected to the seller of this product not am I being paid or this review. I've written this purely because I don't want others being ripped off into buyin expensive systems it thinking they can't install themselves as they are not good at DIY. If you can use a PC and a drill you can install this system." Read full review

"I was after a reasonably priced CCTV system for my home, searched ebay and found the KARE system, that in comparison to similar systems was cheaper, however the specification was good, so I purchased it. It took me about 20 minutes to set up the system on my dining table and prove it all worked, then about three hours to install it, most of this time drilling holes in the wall to site two of the cameras externally. The quality of the picture is excellent, both in daytime colour and night time black and white. The night mode is much better than a previous camera I have used. I used the free XMEye application on my iPhone and iPad, it was very straightforward to load and set up and the quality of the images again is excellent, even over 3G. I have yet to record and play back any images, but with a T1 TByte hard drive the system should run for weeks before it records over itself. The quality will obviously be there as its a straight recording of the image. This is a great product and I would recommend it." Read full review

"Received & now installed, fantastic picture quality & product quality, easy to set up, more than enough cable supplied to reach to both ends of our house. You can connect to either a monitor (using a DVI cable) or flatscreen tv to the box via a hdmi cable, which we did.(Note, these cables are not supplied but can be picked up anywhere). Connections are a push in nylon head type for power feeds & push lock type for video feeds. Easy set up via remote control unit ( You will need 2 x AAA batteries- not included) The package comes with an instructional CD if you need a bit of extra guidance (which we didn't need to be fair) . The only issue I had was routing the cables through the external wall, I drilled a 22mm hole & had to use pull rods to get the cables pulled through, I found it easier to duct tape the locking connector to the end of the pull rod first & then tape the nylon push connector further behind the end to prevent snagging in the hole, once pulled through, the tape can be removed & repeat the process for the next cable. You will find that you'll need to drill two holes, as you will struggle to get any more than two cables pulled through the hole without damaging any of the cables. A bonus, is being able to view all 4 feeds simultaneously." Read full review

"This is the first kit I've ever had and was a bit worried about setting it up, but it is p2p enabled so all you need is a smart phone to be able to view from anywhere. There is literally no set up required other than download the app and point your camera at a bar code. If you are not interested in mobile viewing then it works straight from the box. You will need a monitor or tv to view the video, but it does not have to be connected to record. If you don't want to use all 4 cameras then don't plug them in and only the cameras plugged in will work. The picture quality is brilliant during the day and as good as you would expect at night. I would recommend this system and to buy from the seller as he was really helpful when I couldn't figure out a couple of things, and even took the time to ring me to talk me through." This is a fantasic value for money system . It is pretty easy to install and set up . I have the pictures on my iPad and iPhone so i can view them for anywhere . I have family who have had systems put in for thousands and actually have said mine are better with much more reliable service . The night vision is also fantastic and it is very easy to look back on the system to see if anything has happened or anyone has been around the house in the past couple of days . It also gives great piece of mind for people who worry who is at their door , as it gives a HD clear picture that you can have running on your iPad all the time . I can highly recommend this product and i have had no issues or problems with it
